The first stone of Selva Plan is placed to restore ten schools with S/. 44.9 million Soles

With the presence of the Minister of Education, Jaime Saavedra Chanduví, it was carried out the placement of the first stone of the Selva Plan, a project that will restore 10 schools located in the Jungle, with an investment of S/. 44.9 millions of Soles. The project of the National Education Infrastructure Program (PRONIED by its Spanish acronym) and the Ministry of Education (MINEDU by its Spanish acronym) will be executed by the Consorcio Educativo Selva composed by the Peruvian company ICCGSA - Ingenieros Civiles y Contratistas Generales S.A and Multitainer S.A. It will benefit more than one thousand students. 

In the event, there were teachers and students of the public school Villa Selva of Yarinacocha district, Coronel – Portillo province, Ucayali. It will be the first school to be restored with an architectural modular system which will make it more modern and resistant to heavy rains. The school will have new classrooms, furniture and equipment. 

In Pucallpa, it will also benefit the N°441 School of Masisea District. Additionally, it will be implemented the new architectural system of the Selva Plan in communities of Pangoa (Junín), Punchana and San Juan Bautista (Loreto), Tambopata and Laberinto (Madre de Dios) and San Fernando and Rioja (San Martín). 

This project consists on the supply, install and equipment of infrastructure kits, under the prefabricated modular system which is easy to install in remote areas in order to offer proper facilities for learning of students and working of teachers. These modules will be composed of steel and wood structures that will facilitate its transportation to areas difficult to access such as Jungle communities. 

Module floors will be high in order to protect them from heavy rains and possible flooding. Rooms will have high and slanted roofs to shade and to withstand heavy rainfall. It will also have proper ventilation and lighting.

Works will include the implementation of classrooms, teachers’ area, multimedia libraries, multiple use room, cafeteria, roofed yard, restrooms, as well as the furniture and equipment. It will be installed lighting rod, rebuilt kitchens, bio digesters and rainwater collection system.
