President Humala and Consorcio Telecabinas Kuélap executed a contract to start construction of telecabin system

The President of the Republic of Peru, Ollanta Humala Tasso, and the General Manager of ICCGSA, Fernando Castillo Dibós, representative of Consorcio Telecabinas Kuélap, consisting of the Peruvian firm Ingenieros Civiles y Contratistas Generales S.A (ICCGSA) and the French Pomagalski S.A.S, executed today, at the House of Government, the concession agreement for the Kuélap Telecabin System project, located in the Department of Amazonas.

The concession was awarded in a comprehensive projects tender called by Proinversión, commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur). Consorcio Telecabinas Kuélap will be in charge of the design, funding, construction, operation and maintenance of the Telecabin System for a term of 20 years. This project will star operating in 2016, requiring an investment of US$17,893,191.

The Telecabinas Kuélap project is the first telecabin project in Peru to be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), which will allow comfortable and rapid access to the most important archeological site of the Chachapoyas culture: the Kuélap Fortress, located in the Amazonas Region.

The telecabin service will start at the Boarding Station located in Tingo Nuevo, will and will run three kilometers up to exit platform. There, the telecabins will be boarded to the arrival platform, located at Parador de La Malca, from where the pedestrian walk to the fortress starts.

The telecabins will cover a distance of 4,031 metros, which travel will allow accessing in 20 minutes the most important archeological site of the Chachapoyas Culture. This project seeks to optimize accessibility to the Kuélap Fortress, furthering tourist demand and the economic and social development of the Amazonas Region.

Engineer Fernando Castillo, General Manager of ICCGSA, the building company member of Consorcio Telecabinas Kuélap, assured that construction of the telecabins will be completed in compliance with the highest quality standard and thanked the Peruvian government for its trust in ICCGSA expressed in the execution of this contract that will benefit the entire country.
