Transit from La Molina to Miraflores to be expedited in two weeks

  • At present, two companies are competing for the Municipality of Lima to give them the ‘green light’ for their respective road projects. These are the Spanish OHL and the Peruvian ICCGSA.

OHL submitted its proposal in 2012, "La Molina-Angamos Connection". ICCGSA submitted its proposal on March 10, 2013, with its “San Francisco Road Corridor” initiative. It was also reported that this initiative was recent and therefore, has not been posted yet Web page of the Municipality of Lima.

In connection with the proposal of ICCGSA, sources of the Municipality said that “it has just been admitted”, so its evaluation could take some time.

However, in connection with OHL, since August 2013, the Municipality commented openly on the project of this firm, even in press conferences, but, since that date, it has not issued any comments publicly. Sources of the Municipality of Lima said there would be news about the private initiative of OHL. What is not known is whether, as part of this private investment project evaluation process, the Municipality will also take the proposal submitted by ICCGSA into account.

OHL has been awaiting since August 2013 for its initiative to be submitted to consideration by the Metropolitan Council.

    The role of Villarán

In March 2013, the Mayor of Lima, Susana Villarán, said that the OHL proposal was "a megaproject" that would allow going from La Molina to Miraflores in just 20 minutes by a road that would pass under Avenida Primavera Este and across Cerro Centinela (a mountain located between Surco and La Molina).

    Costs

The proposal of OHL would require US$ 450 million, while the ICCGSA initiative, about US$ 200 million.
